Thread sealing is chosen based on the connection and installation conditions, not just the location near the radiator. Vitcas products have different modes of action. Before repair, determine the material of the fittings, thread type, medium, and the temperature and pressure intended for the entire system.
Identify the two materials
PTFE Liquid is an anaerobic sealant for appropriate metal threads. Curing occurs under the described conditions between metal surfaces, without air access. The datasheet indicates resistance up to 150°C as well as its own preparation and bonding requirements.
White Pipe Jointing Compound is a non-hardening paste for indicated installation connections. The documentation specifies certain media, pressure, and temperature. Do not assume that both products have the same assembly procedure or readiness for load.
Check the condition of the connection itself
Inspect the thread, fit of parts, and traces of previous materials according to the installation requirements. A damaged fitting or mismatched profile requires identification. The sealing compound does not replace any missing part of a proper mechanical connection.
Work should take into account the condition of the system, temperature, and pressure, as well as the required method of shutdown and subsequent inspection. Do not apply the product to the outer edge of a working, hot connection as a substitute for proper thread assembly.
Select the preparation according to the product
Maintain surface cleanliness and follow the instructions for the specific variant. For anaerobic PTFE, curing conditions differ from the behaviour of non-hardening paste. Do not transfer amounts, times, or methods of checking from one product to another solely based on previous experience.
Record the name, variant, and repaired location. Returning the installation to operation should include the required connection check according to its documentation. A legible note facilitates the next service and allows the material to be identified without guessing from the colour of the residue on the fitting.
